antique silverware with a story
Those looking to buy antique silverware will find a collection in our shop on the Halstraat in Breda that truly lives up to the name. A teapot with an engraved family crest, a set of Biedermeier-style cutlery, a sugar bowl where you can still recognize the hand of a nineteenth-century silversmith. Every piece preserves its history.
Sterling silver (925) and solid silver form the standard in our collection. Hallmarks and assay marks from Dutch and European silversmiths tell us everything about the origin, fineness, and period of manufacture.
what will you find in our silverware collection?
Our range includes a wide palette of table silver and decorative silverware. You will find spice shakers, salt cellars and pepper mills, sauce boats and sugar bowls to match the service, as well as complete silver tea and coffee sets. Candlesticks in various sizes, teapots with twisted handles, and spoons or forks with characteristic decorations form the core of the antique cutlery and silver that we offer.
New pieces arrive every week.
style periods in our silverware
biedermeier silver (circa 1815-1850)
Biedermeier silver is characterized by clean, symmetrical shapes and restrained use of decoration. Functional, solid, and timeless.
victorian silver (circa 1837-1901)
In the Victorian era, silver was a status symbol. Tableware was richly engraved, candlesticks were adorned with acanthus leaf decorations, and cutlery bore the family's initials.
art nouveau silver (circa 1890-1910)
Art Nouveau marked a turning point. Organic shapes, female figures, flowers, and flowing lines replaced strict symmetry.
quality indicators and hallmarks
Sterling silver carries the fineness mark 925, which means that 92.5% of the weight is pure silver. Dutch silver marks are generally checked by the Assay Office. English pieces use the extensive British hallmark system.
